Carry-on packing tips:
There are a few things that are important to keep in mind when packing in a carry-on. Packing in a carry on is a good skill to have, whether you are travelling from place to place during your trip and don’t want a lot of luggage, or want to save on baggage fees and just bring a carry-on bag.
- Plan your outfits. If the outfits are planned out, you won’t pack too much or too little because you will know exactly what you have for each day. Also pack things that are basics, and can be re-worn and used in multiple outfits. If you are on the fence about bringing something, chances are, you don’t need it – leave it at home.
- Bring minimal shoes. Choose your shoes wisely. Bring comfortable shoes that you know you will wear, and that you can dress up or down.
- Bring mini toiletries. Most pharmacies and stores sell there products in travel size. This is extremely important, because TSA does not allow liquid above 3.4 ounces if your bag is coming with you on the plane. It also saves a ton of space. Chances are, if you run out of anything you can buy more at your destination.
- Use space-saver bags and packing cubes. This helps keep everything organized, and everything will fit in your bag much better.
- Roll clothes instead of folding them. This method can save space instead of folding things flat, depending on the suitcase.
- Utilize a backpack in addition to your carry-on. Most airlines allow for one carry-on and one personal bag. Take advantage of this. Anything extra that you don’t have room for in your carry-on, you can pack in a backpack.
